Pensions have once again been shown to be the main driver for people looking for financial advice .
According to unbiased.co.uk, in the month running up to the general election, 35 per cent of consumers searching for independent financial advice needed help with personal retirement planning .
The issue of pensions is expected to be high on the agenda of the new government, and Karen Barrett, chief executive of unbiased.co.uk, explained why this was important.
She said: “With the coalition government now in motion, direct and strategic input will be needed when it comes to pensions policies.
“With all this going on around us, it is not surprising to see that retirement planning remained at top position when it comes to consumers seeking professional financial advice .”
Aviva recently introduced a new pension calculator that can help individuals work out how much they might get from their income fund after it was shown that 50 per cent of people yet to retire do not understand the variances between quotes on the market.
