All About Summit 2010

Did you miss the airing of the 4th annual Financial Literacy & Education Summit yesterday? The event, co-hosted by Visa Inc. and The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, aired via webcast Monday, April 19, 2010 and was a great success. And good news — you can still catch it via on-demand video.

Each year, the Summit gives us a chance to hear from experts in the field of financial education. They talk about the importance of financial literacy in the lives of children and adults, the connection between financial education and the global economy, and how institutions can work together to give consumers the tools they need to reach their financial goals.

Speakers this year included everyone from Duncan L. Niederauer, CEO and Director of NYSE Euronext to Michelle Green, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Education and Financial Access for the Obama Administration. Here are a just few of the topics they addressed:

The link between financial education and a healthy economy
The need for teachers, banks and non-profits to collaborate on improving financial education
Introduction of a new NYSE initiative that offers financial tools to the working class
The continued rollout and success of Financial Soccer, Visa’s educational video game
