Great Video On Too Much Worldwide Debt

I think too many countries are over extended and things are going to \”hit the wall\” pretty soon.  Mike Maloney makes some good points in this presentation on how Gold will continue to go higher and more and more currencies get printed out of existence.  It’s a bit of a longer video but if you’re willing to sit through it I think you’ll come away with more insight to the world’ economy.

Best Secured Loans in UK

A secured loan is one in which the borrower assures a certain asset to the lender before the loan is given out. This acts as insurance to the lender so that in case the borrowers falls short of payment, the lender can reclaim the asset in exchange for the remaining debt. This ensures that the borrower is able to borrow more money when compared to an unsecured loan while the lender has the safety that in the case that the loan is not paid off, the lender can regain possession of the property.

The lower interest rates of the secured loans means that if you are able to meet the repayment amounts regularly, you will end up repaying a smaller amount that what you would have with an unsecured loan. The best secured loans in UK are those which have the right repayment period which is the most convenient for you. The loans which have a longer grace period wherein you can default on a payment will make sure that you will not be susceptible to having your assets seized in the odd case where you might default on a payment for a short period. CHIP Reverse Mortgage Volumes Not Surprising to Some

One of the most evident trends in financial services is the growing demand for reverse mortgages.

HomEquity Bank confirmed that trend (again) by posting a 42% year-over-year surge in Q4 reverse mortgage volume.

President and CEO Steven Ranson : “…The (seniors demographic) wave is here…tremendous market demand is fuelling our strong growth in originations.”

Greg Bandler, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, adds that mortgage brokers had a big hand in these results. He tells us that fourth-quarter volume from HomEquity Bank’s broker channel rocketed 56%.

CHIP’s Free Closing Costs campaign was also key. It saved seniors $1,495 in set-up costs, which is no small sum to someone on a modest income. That promo

Did the banks just find $10.4B of new earnings? part 2

I didnt take too long to start to get to the bottom of the Bank of Canadas startling news about two major changes last November to the bond and mortgage holdings of Canadas chartered banks . According to the helpful IR department of one of the Canadian banks:

These changes are principally the result of the adoption of IFRS by the Canadian banks as of November 1.

As a result of IFRS, all of the mortgages sold under the Canada mortgage program came back on the banks’ balance sheets. In addition, any mortgage-backed securities related to these programs and held by the banks were no longer classified as government bonds but as mortgages under IFRS.

Kinda makes sense; a mortgage is a mortgage, after all. Why did it take IFRS to force this disclosure?

Now, you might not have known that the Canada Mortgage Bond program was the formal name for a CMHC securitization product for financial institutions that was used for capital relief. I
